About The Program
Healing Grounds Organic Nursery and Horticulture Therapy Program grows high quality organic vegetable and herb seedlings that are sold to local retail stores. Program participants are adults with mental illness living in the Santa Barbara area. Participants earn money from nursery sales while receiving horticulture therapy and job training.
Producing high quality organic seedlings requires care and attention to the needs of each and every plant. As program participants interact with living things that are healthy and thriving they feel a sense of pride and accomplishment as a result of their work at our nursery and horticulture therapy program.
Nurturing organic plants at Healing Grounds connects clients to the restorative aspects of nature. The sale of organic seedling from Healing Grounds provides a positive way for clients to interface with the broader community and generate money for themselves.
